My Background
I have been in the hair industry as a hairstylist and salon owner for over 18 years. and have built successful salon businesses in Indiana, Florida and Georgia. The one thing I have always been told and noticed about the way I work is that I am "fast." Not rushed, but fast. Efficient. I normally do 4-5 clients a day in just 6-7 hours. Each client usually is a multi-step process. For me, it was just normal to earn $1k-$2k a day behind the chair, I didn't realize or plan to ever "have" to do that. However as the years have gone by and inflation and the cost of living is on the rise, I quickly realized that if hair stylists only take home 50% of what we charge (on average), that the only way for us to grow in our careers and live the lifestyle we all deserve, is to work the way I work. I t is no longer an option; we either sink or swim and I am going to swim. Double-booking is now a must if you are going to be financially successful. Knowing your numbers, knowing how to do two clients at once who both require multiple steps and have them both done in 3.5 hours is critical. If we don't, we will not be earning enough to pay our bills let alone live a life of luxury, prepare for retirement or ever be able to take time away from the chair for vacations, family emergencies, etc.
